Turkey Day in the UK

We just got back from a wonderful week and a half vacation in England.  Scott's cousins and his older brother live in London and invited us and the rest of Scott's family for Thanksgiving. While we were there we were able to have 4 days in the Cotswolds, meet up with two of my cousins who have lived in London for awhile, hang out with college friends, and spend a lot of time with Scott's family.

We spent the first night at my cousin Emerson's house with his daughter Sky (who Henry just adored).

We then went to the Cotswolds during which time we stayed a the Yew Tree Cottage and visited Stroud and Glouchester.  It was pretty cold while we were there and the cottage didn't have much heat.  Although the cold both inside and out was enjoyable for us because we love the winter, the temperature was a shock when compared to Bangladesh in November (it was 86 degrees when we landed back in Bangladesh at the end of the trip).

On Sunday Nov 21 we met up with my cousins who live in London and their families at a Buddhist temple.  Henry loved playing with Sunny Rae's red beaded shirt.  In one of the photos she's trying to keep his hand off her shirt so that we can all take a photograph.  Excitingly, Henry crawled for the first time at the temple!!! We were all so excited!!  You can only imagine how quickly his crawling skills - and standing skills - progress over the week.  

We then stayed in London with Scott's cousin (his dad and the mom are cousins).  We had such a great time just hanging out seeing some sights. I think Scott's favorite part of the trip was getting a private tour of Lloyds organized by his older brother.

Thanksgiving day started with a "Turkey Trot" that we personally organized and which included a long stroll through Regents Park to Scott's older brother's apartment. Along the way we stopped for a gourmet sausage breakfast at a famous butcher and some great cheese at a specialty shop next door.

Then Scott's brother and I went to get fresh oysters for the stuffing:

Then it was time to relax and watch some football!  By the way, the orange funnel that Henry is sporting as a hat was his favorite toy during the whole week.  It's amazing how well kitchen things can entertain a baby.

During the week I was able to hangout with Sheela who flew in from Switzerland with her 7 month old baby boy Max (or Maxi in Dutch where her husband is from). One afternoon we had a playdate with another college friend who had a 7 month old daughter Marin.

What a great trip!  It's back to the daily excitement of Dhaka...
