Just the same old

Since Christmas things have been pretty calm in Dhaka.  We have enjoyed the reduced traffic and the calmer work weeks.  The weather is a bit more chilly which means the apartment stays cool (~69 degrees) during the day.  One highlight from the past week is that we are starting to receive our new furniture.  We were so excited to finally get a couch especially since in all the years Scott and I have known each other we've never had an actual sofa.  We LOVE the new U shaped couch and have enjoyed many a night since New Years Eve when it was delivered hanging out on it reading, watch Henry play around in the middle.  In these photos the couch is still a little tight but, just so you can relax, we'll let you know that we've ordered an extra piece to expand it.

The rest of our furniture, a few book cases, dressers, and a TV stand also arrived.  One has to enjoy the thrill of designing furniture here in the Desh. It is exciting to have the freedom to come up with whatever you want, but it's more exciting to see what you actually end up with.  Every piece had at least one thing we had to suggest they fix and one piece had so many differences for our original order that we sent it back.  Flexibility and patience are skills one perfects living here!
Next week Henry and I head up to Gaibandha with colleagues visiting from Baltimore.  I bet we'll get some good photos.
